I am currently in Corolla, North Carolina for a week long vacation. I’ve never been here before, and I must say, it’s beautiful.
I have a full list of things I want to do on this vacation, places to go, food to eat, and memories to create.
“WELL TOO BAD MOTHER F*CKER.” – MOTHER NATURE
Hurricane Florence doesn’t seem to care about my vacation plans, and in 12 hours, I, along with my family, are all being evacuated from the Outer Banks… with a whopping 5 days left on our vacation.
Now I could sit here and bitch, be miserable, and whine for the entire 8 hour drive back home. Or, I could roll with the punches, realize there’s not a whole hell of a lot I can do about this shitty situation, and look at this as a glass half full type thing.
There’s never really any benefit to complaining and moping about things out of your control… like hurricanes. It’ll just make you and everyone around you more miserable while only adding headaches to your current situation.
The problem is never the problem. The problem is your attitude towards the problem.
As annoyed as I am that Hurricane Florence will be cutting my vacation waaaay short…
- I just found out I’m gonna be a daddy to a baby boy
- My Eagles are 1-0
- I’ll still have 4 days worth of staycation left when I get home
- I’m getting some money back thanks to hurricane insurance (thanks Paula!)
It’s not all bad 🙂
How you approach and view problems can have a HUGE effect on how you handle said situations. Life WILL rain on your parade and kick you in the mouth, aaand there’s nothing you can do about it.
But having a good mindset when encountering these issues will make the world’s difference for the better. This goes for fitness, health, financials, and well… everything.
